Reticular Veins

Reticular veins are a subset of the chronic venous illness spectrum, along with the more well-known varicose and spider veins. Six to seven million people in the United States suffer from this widespread medical illness, known as vein disease or venous insufficiency.

An underlying vein illness is the root cause of reticular veins. When microscopic, one-way vein valves are broken, blood can pool or flow backward, leading to this disease. Reticulated veins can form as a result of both hereditary and environmental influences.

Reticular vein symptoms may include:

  • Pain or discomfort
  • Burning
  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Tenderness
